Trad Anchor Clinic & Climbing Day

Unlock a world of adventure with trad climbing, allowing your heart to climb where it dares. Spend a day learning the ins and outs of placing cams and nuts, slinging trees, and building modern anchor systems. Practice newly minted trad skills climbing in calm and forgiving terrain. This two hour class and guided climbing day takes place 1h above Los Angeles at Winston Peak, in the Angeles Crest National Forrest. Itinerary: 3:00pm meet at Post. Parking in the lot is fine, after the gate closes we will be able to open it and get our cars. Drive up together to the shaded parking area. 4:30pm Approach the lesson area. Approach is 10-15 minutes right off the road. 5:00pm Learn and practice placing cams and nuts, and building trad anchors on the ground. Many anchors will be build and assessed. 6:00pm Practice leading trad and setting trad top rope anchors on 5.2 - 5.7 single pitch climbs. 8:00 Take in the beautiful sunset and vista, leave for The Post. 9:00pm Arrive at Post Parking (paste into Maps) 34.3528629, -117.9445775 Coronates of the area: 34.3552865, -117.9425451 Weather : Typical lightly breezy, air cleaner and cooler by 10-15° as compared to Pasadena. I wear light, wicking climbing pants, a light sunshirt, and approach shoes. Hiking shoes or boots are great as well.
