Take a walk on the wide side! Learn and practice the fundamentals of the wide crack climbing. This program : fists, wide fist, squished fists, offwidth jams, knee jams, chicken wings, movement, resting, training, taping, gloves, clothing, and shoes. Itinerary : 3:00pm meet at Post. Parking in the lot is fine, after the gate closes we will be able to open it and get our cars. Drive up together to the shaded parking area. 4:30pm Approach the lesson area. Approach is 10-15 minutes right off the road. 5:00pm Learn and practice wide crack technique on the ground. 6:00pm Practice wide cracks on TR. 8:00 Take in the beautiful sunset and vista, leave for The Post. 9:00pm Arrive at Post Parking (paste into Maps): 34.3528629, -117.9445775 Coronates of the area: 34.3552865, -117.9425451 Weather and clothing : Typical lightly breezy, air cleaner and cooler by 10-15° as compared to Pasadena. I wear oversized dickies (by 4 sizes), as it's cheep, durable, and cotton affords good friction on rock. Wicking climbing pants also work, but are slipperier, more fragile, and more expensive. The same goes for the shirt. Approach shoes are recommended. Hiking shoes or boots are great as well. Bring: Water Snacks Harness Belay device Trad climbing shoes - I oversize my wide crack shoes, and wear socks. Optional, but recommend: Helmet Cams, nuts, and alpine quickdraws Anchor material (locking carabiners, cord, 180-240cm slings etc) Bug spray Spf
